Sean Syrek, BS, PSS
EVOLVE Program Supervisor
Sean Syrek has been with MHAO since December of 2014. He started as a peer support specialist and currently supervises peers and recovery mentors across four programs: Clackamas County, Clackamas County-Behavioral Health Unit, Access to Recovery, and Multnomah County Mental Health Court/Forensic Diversion. He has personal lived experience with mental health and addictions challenges, criminal justice system involvement and is a person in long term recovery, having been alcohol and drug free since November of 2012.
Sean has experienced the child welfare system from dual perspectives, as a child who grew up in the California foster care system and as a DHS-involved parent. He has a particular interest in developing peer support programs for criminal justice system involved peers and has worked closely with the Clackamas and Multnomah County Mental Health and Juvenile Dependency Courts since MHAO began providing direct services in January of 2015. Sean has degrees in Biological Sciences and Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and he studied for two years at Charles University First Faculty of Medicine in Prague. He has a 5 year old daughter, Harper, who he is honored to care for full-time.
