Elmer Morris III, PSS, CRM
Peer Support Specialist for Clackamas County
Elmer Morris III is in long term recovery from substance abuse, mental health challenges, and involvement with the criminal justice system. He has been clean and sober for over 10 years, and is a lifelong witness of the fact that true recovery is possible for anyone, regardless of the severity of the issues they struggle with. He has worked as a certified nurse’s assistant, a med tech, and as a foster parent.
Throughout his diverse career paths, he often found himself advocating for people who were disadvantaged, disenfranchised, and often times greatly adversely affected by broken systems that were designed or intended to help them. Through this work, he realized that he had a great ability to connect with people who were struggling, and to help them to find hope and recovery, whatever that meant for them. Here at MHAAO, he brings an attitude and presence of hope, compassion and non-judgment to the people he works with.
